Roxen CMS 5.0 Released

After a few additional months of extensive testing and fine-tuning we are happy to announce that Roxen CMS version 5.0 is now available.

Highlights
  • Link Management – This is a major architectural improvement ensuring valid links on continuously changing websites, automatically updates when files are copied or moved and prevents you from accidentally deleting pages or pictures that are linked to from other locations.
  • New workflow engine – Rather than an improved version of the existing Workflow engine this is a completely new component, re-built from scratch, and the result of everything we've learnt about Workflow over the years. This module enables totally new areas of use and greatly improved flexibility through e.g. personal to-do-lists, supports for parallel sub-activities, ad-hoc routing and Improved and more user-friendly interface.
  • New MySQL version 5.0 – Roxen has upgraded to MySQL 5.0 resulting in support for modern operating systems, such as new 64-bit Linux, and updates of many product components.
  • Improved Web Developer GUI – Roxen CMS 5.0 includes a new and enriched GUI environment for Web developers, including new keyboard shortcuts.
  • Patch management – Roxen has implemented a new infrastructure for simplifying product patches and additions.

Shaw Newspapers rollout success

Shaw Newspapers  concluded its ambitious deployment in just 10 months. The Midwestern newspaper publisher has moved more than 40+ newspapers and 20+ Web sites to Web-based Roxen Editorial Portal since June 2008. "We knew that moving to a Web-based platform would be faster and smoother, but we couldn't imagine we'd be finished with all our publications by now," said Tom Shaw, chief executive officer, Shaw Newspapers. Based in Dixon, IL, Shaw Newspapers is 158 years old. With over 640 employees, it is the United States 3rd oldest, continuously owned and managed newspaper company. Read the full press release.

McHenryCountySports.com was awarded Best Sports Web Site in the U.S.

The Northwest Herald's prep sports Web site – McHenryCountySports.com – was named the EPpy Award winner for the Best Sports Web Site with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. McHenryCountySports.com is part of Shaw Newspapers and run on Roxen CMS. "Winning the EPpy Award is incredibly exciting and a tremendous honor," Northwest Herald Managing Editor for Interactive Media Mike Weiler said.   • Thursday, 4 June, open 8-17 (GMT +2).
  • Friday, 5 June, open 8-15 (GMT +2).

And Midsummer holiday:

  • Thursday, 18 June, open 8-17 (GMT +2)
  • Friday, 19 June, closed.

NOTE: Customers with on-call support agreements will have to call the designated off-hour support number to activate support. During this period any off-hour calls will be treated as on-call support regardless of time of day.
